Notes, About Them
And then I purchase my first album from iTunes with full digital rights management. It’s a split - The Winks and Tights. And it is in fact quite good, a worthy purchase. It’s time to hear the sounds. Complicator says to me: “you must authorize this computer before you can play this song”. Again: “you have authorized this song on 1 of 2 computers”. Looks like I can share with my best friend but not the rest of the world. Fair enough. I’ll have to play it on the iPod and the one computer that got it I guess…
In other news, after buying this timebombed album I realize that The Winks are in fact playing Video In soonish. Well huzzah. Bring your hankies because if they play anything from this here EP it will be a happy teary affair. Maybe even check out the video for “Abalone” which is very strange to me - Korean children in a very small classroom practicing their bows, making me feel uncomfortable, shot on a seemingly cheap digital video camera overexposed by one the whole time. Maybe even buy a real disc because I hear (read) that the rest of the ablums are even better that this one.
Not to knock Tights. In fact I got the album for The Winks, but ended up going to bed with Tights. This album really is delightful, and if I can figure it out, I should be able to lend CDs to people, like one would real music, not this Apple-wants-your-left-testicle affair. One of the sonic landscapes that just gelled at the right time. Luckily they (Tights) were around while I was passed by 11 buses this morning waiting at the new temporary bus stop on Quebec. Good thing I wasn’t listening to Slayer or HORSE the Band as I could have possibly have ended up in temporary lock up. Why is it I get so frustrated in the morning? Why do songs from Four Tet and Fly Panam soothe?
Tomorrow should see me rocketing down 10th on a cheap Kuwahara BMX equipped with shitty fork that refuses pegs flat-out, sticky glue residue, and covered in a film of greasy glue remover that won’t remove glue regardless of how long and hard I masturbate the frame.
At least I now know how to wrench spoke nipples.
