Darling. "solipsist, navel-gazing garbage" That actually IS blogging. And, don't forget, the only evidence I have that you are still alive. I thought this was excellent - and it saved me having to sort it out because you've said it beautifully. Of course, I have time to read and navel gaze because my taxes are done.

"Internalize shit"? Wow, bad plan. I reckon you're better off trying to have a good laugh at shit and then letting it go... As for religion, Buddhist or otherwise, it's always been the ethical equivalent of TV dinner. Blogging = navel gazing? Yup, or 'headuparsing' as I like to call it.

"Internalize" is a word that's gotten a bad rap. All it means is to learn. To internalize, is to take information outside of yourself and figure it out. And though my general take on organized religion is pretty dim, I've gotten a lot more out of rinzai/taoist philosophy than I ever have out of a tv dinner.

See. It isn't just me and String. And I happen to know that Weedy reads here, too. Not everyone reads and tells.

I guess I'm left wondering: "why zen?".
You're reason is murky at best.

Zen 'cause:

-It's the least adorned.
-It's the least faith-based.
-It's the furthest away from Theraveda, and closest to the Tao.
-It's just murky enough.

-pfffft!

From my friend Josh, who has taken it upon himself to teach me about buddhism;

The fundamental idea of buddhism is that we are bound by ignorance, attatchement and aggression. Because our minds are impure in this manner we experience suffering, dissatisfaction, pain and the like. Buddha taught that to overcome suffering we have to over come the causes which lie within.

Makes sense to me.
